History of the Electric Water Bottling Company
The Electric Water Bottling Co. began in 1914 with a number of disaffected scientists and technicians from the Edison labs formed a company to bottle and market magnetic waters based on the work of Pop Haydn. Haydn was killed in an earthquake or explosion in the California desert in 1910, and his patents and technology was taken over by his partners in Los Angeles, Baldwin and Loomis. The newly formed company bought all the rights to the equipment and methods, and quickly set up a bottling plant and began production.
Our first plant in Schenectady was located on the South part of town, and was opened in 1914. This is our second plant, in operation until the early 1960's.
We serve the Schenectady area, and because of the huge problems with shipping a product like ours, we do not ship any product out of the area.
We are very proud of our long history serving the Schenectady area, and invite everyone to spend some time in our historical room off the lobby. Here we have photos of Tesla, Pop Haydn, Steinmetz and others, and historical artifacts and technological marvels. It is worth taking some time to check it out. Questions and inquiries about our tours and exhibits should be addressed to Community Affairs at CONTACT.
